Robbins-Gioia Wins Exemplary Practice Award for Launching a Corporate Learning Initiative
March 12, 2007, Alexandria, VA—Robbins-Gioia, LLC, the leading provider of program management services, is pleased to announce that its corporate university, Robbins-Gioia University, won an exemplary practice award in the 8th Annual Corporate University Xchange Awardsfor Excellence and Innovation in Corporate Learning. These awards recognize corporate and government learning organizations that create programs resulting in measurable improvements in employee and business performance.
Robbins-Gioia received the award for successfully launching its new corporate university initiative, Robbins-Gioia University. One judge applauded the RGU practice of using trainers from the field who rotate back to their business units, calling it “an outstanding method of aligning the university to the business.” Another noted that RGU reflects well-defined performance goals with strong management support. The assessments were right on target, according to RGU Manager Ann Sachs. “Our goal was to align RGU with the other strategic planning elements of our corporation,” she said.
“The Robbins-Gioia professional development, human resources, and operations groups worked together as a team to bring RGU into being,” said John Marselle, Robbins-Gioia CEO. “The result is a fantastic resource for the professional development of our employees—and another example of the value that our people place on hard work, generosity, and cooperation to accomplish our aims.”
Awards for excellence were presented in each of eight categories—alignment, alliances, corporate/college partnerships, launching, leadership development, learning technology, marketing, and measurement—in a ceremony that took place on February 27, 2007, in Orlando, Florida. The application process for the 9th Annual Awards program, sponsored by Fortune magazine, starts later this month.
